Artist's Comments

This is the second painting I worked on during the ‘;Painting Day With Mom’, this past Easter holiday. I learned SO much, working on this!!

It was really complicated from the get go- a lot of shapes and colors to deal with- but what really was a problem was the pattern on the towel under the bowls. Originally I included it, then realized I needed to scrub it out- the painting was SO confusing to look at.

Had I been painting simple shapes, like apples, or pears laying on this patterned towel, it would have been awesome- but the cut fruit was too much.

So now that I’ve toned down all the superfluous detail, I’m quite happy with this. I love it when paintings teach me things!

Ooo, I like those bananas.

Watercolor's no joke, it takes some real control and patience to get it to really shine. Keep up the good work!
